Who We Are
Urban Beat Wave works on the business side of music. The part that usually gets rushed because it doesn’t look good in a post.
Most of what we see goes wrong long before the numbers look bad. By the time something shows up in a report, the decision already happened. Sometimes months earlier. Usually in a room where everyone felt confident and nobody slowed it down.
We end up involved when money starts moving, rights start getting split up, and momentum starts outrunning the structure underneath it. That’s also when people realize dashboards are better at explaining what already happened than telling you what to do next.
The work itself isn’t flashy. It’s mostly about making sure things still make sense later, when nobody’s excited anymore and the emails stop sounding optimistic.
If that sounds boring, it probably just means nothing’s gone wrong yet.
That’s basically it.
